The maximum speed limit on the Dhaka Elevated Expressway has been increased from 60 kilometres per hour to 80 kilometres per hour.
This new speed limit came into effect on Thursday as announced by Captain (Retd) Hasib Hasan Khan, director of Traffic, Safety, and Security at Dhaka Elevated Expressway (Operation and Maintenance) Company Limited.
The new speed limit of 80km/h was displayed on electronic signboards along the Dhaka Elevated Expressway on Saturday.
Additionally, electronic boards are providing instructions to continue driving straight ahead.
However, manual signs along the roadside still show the old speed limit of 60km/h, which have yet to be updated.
Previously, the authorities had implemented a policy to regulate the movement of vehicles at higher speeds on the Elevated Express
